Plymouth Manadon Sea Cadets

Plymouth Manadon Sea Cadets; Welcome to TS Manadon

Plymouth Manadon Sea Cadets TS Manadon is a well established Sea Cadet unit in Plymouth. The unit began in 1982 when the pupils in St Boniface's College wanted a Sea Cadet Unit of their own and approached the Royal Naval Engineering College at Manadon, Plymouth (now a housing development). In January 1998 TS Manadon moved to the Naval Base in South Yard. This was because Manadon College closed down and the Royal Navy moved out. In January 2000 the Sea Cadet unit moved to the present site at the TA Centre, Brest Road.

Plymouth Manadon Sea Cadets The Sea Cadets background is naval-maritime orientated and we wear the uniform of the Royal Navy, with pride. However we are not a pre-service training or a recruiting tool for the Royal Navy, but if you are interested in joining the Royal Navy, or another one of the services, Sea Cadets will get you off to a good start. Though the Sea Cadet Corps is disciplined and uniformed it is certainly not para-military, nor does membership imply a career in the Services or Merchant Navy.

TS Manadon is a charitable organisation, and is one of 400 Training Ships throughout Britain catering for some 20,000 young people aged between 10 and 18. Each Training Ship or 'Unit' is responsible for raising its own running costs and funds. All Sea Cadet Units are run based on the overall guidance and direction of training received from Sea Cadet Headquarters in London.
